Maggie Mania in Chelsea
January 9, 2012If you had failed to miss the opening of this month's hottest film, The Iron Lady, you're quite probably still on the come down from a heavy Christmas.
But here's your chance to catch up - and fast!
The 1980s-inspired nightclub Maggie's - on Chelsea's end of the Fulham Road - will be celebrating 'Maggie Mania' with a special Margaret Thatcher cocktail.
The Maggie's Head (above) will be making up part of a refurbishment, 'Maggie's Facelift', which the nightclub has recently undergone (think new Pacman DJ booth, new 80s wallpaper, etc).
In addition to this funky, topical cocktail, Maggie's will be hosting a special night on 19th January: they're inviting people to a special screening of The Iron Lady at Chelsea Cineworld, later transporting guests - by Routemaster - back to the nightclub for Barcardi and Grey Goose cocktails. And... there's a special guest to boot!
Go on, travel back in time. Everyone else seems to be...

Public on the Piste
September 23, 2011Word is circulating that Nightclub impresario Guy Pelly is expanding his flourishing 'Public' empire overseas in time for the 2011/2012 Ski Season. The original Public, on the King's Road, Chelsea has proved so much of a hit since opening late last year that aspiring Chelsea-ites and holidaymakers in Verbier, Switzerland will be able to soak up the scene or enjoy a home away from home.
Although the ink on the deal is barely dry the new 350 capacity club is destined to be a hit with the young and fashionable crowd après-ski when it opens in November.

Night Beach
August 10, 2009
Fancy spending some time on the beach but haven't got the time to leave London? No worries, one nightclub has solved your problem.
For the month of August one of London's hottest venues Mahiki has decided to turn into a beach to celebrate the summer. Sand has been shipped in, literally, to create a beach in this A-list hangout. And because English sand or even European sand is just not quite good enough the 10 tonnes of sand has been imported from Hawaii.
Paddling pools are rumoured to be making an appearance so if you happen to feel you need a little refreshing from the English August heat you can chill out and refresh. But don't stress if you forgot your swimwear because designer Bellinski will be handing out bikinis and swimming trunks at the door.
So if you fancy a little beach fun this week pop down to Mahiki for some sand and deck chairs.

April 14, 2009
Last week The Handbook celebrated their first birthday party. Held at the Valmont club just off the Fulham road, the evening was brimming with writers, designers and media kings. With such a successful turnout, the normally intimate Valmont was soon overflowing with guests dining on oysters and champagne.
Address books were out and it was finally a chance for all the members and supporters to meet up and chat. With such an eclectic gathering there was plenty of lively discussion and useful networking.
Ice sculptures, cocktails and short dresses all marked the start of spring and the revellers were keen to begin the bank holiday a few days earlier, partying well into the night.

March 18, 2009The Chelsea Cloisters have had some unusual press over the years so it was an interesting choice of venue for nightclub Moguls Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling to base their latest addition to their Caribbean inspired clubs. However, although there were looks of anxiety from scantily dressed girls entering into the former love haven hotel, once you've taken a swift left, been vetted through the peep hole and have entered through the door, you're instantly reassured that once again the Gilkes Stirling combo have done it again.

A step away from the more sophisticated and modern Kitts, Barts is true to its Carribean namesake with haphazard decoration, hand picked by the owners themselves from car boot sales all over England. It all works and brings back a much-needed feeling of summer to the gloominess that has been looming over London.
With pub prices but holiday atmosphere, there's a feeling you've stepped into some sort of surreal wonderland and you can almost feel the heat from outside - at last, a bar which couldn't have come at a better time for the market.

December 29, 2008
One of London's hottest clubs will be bowing out on the brink of 2009 - following in the footsteps of Boombox, which held its huge farewell party last NYE, Paper is set to close for good after ringing in the new year.
Paper is now a grand three years old, the creation of the team behind Grill Room who brought fashionable life back to the cellars of the Cafe Royale. Comprised of a restaurant, an upstairs bar, Glass, which features fine cocktails and bar food, and the main downstairs club, the 400 capacity venue has been host to a large number of events and parties in its time, from Anna Wintour's American Vogue party in London Fashion Week to Keira Knightley's 21st birthday. With its numerous hidden rooms and gathering spaces, including the Cigar Room with its secret entrance on Regent Street, Paper has proved a perfect spot for incognito celebrities to let loose for an evening.
It's not the only glossy VIP venue to be losing its place on the London club scene - Chinawhite has recently departed, and Dolce is soon to follow. Clearly the steep alcohol mark-ups and entry charges are suffering in the financial no-man's land - but does it also speak volumes about new tastes in entertainment? Only time will tell if such clubs will be replaced by their younger, flashier models, or if they are to be rehauled completely. In the mean time, get yourself down to Piccadilly and party like it's 2005. For guestlist go to www.paperclublondon.com

October 13, 2008Kiss Me I'm Xxx
Brooklyn was the place to be last night, Saturday October 12th, for the hugely anticipated Diesel Xxx "Rock and Roll Circus" themed party. A 24 hour non-stop party happened across the globe, in 17 major cites around the world, covering 8 different time zones.

It was one major party! And the finale.....New York City!
The reason for this massive event- the biggest international party the world has ever seen - to celebrate Diesel's 30th Anniversary. Beginning in Tokyo the party moved from one city to the next - Beijing, Dubai, Athens, Amsterdam, Milan, Zurich, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Oslo, Helsinki, London and Sao Paulo and ended in New York. . 5,000 of Diesel's closest friends and New York's coolest embarked on Pier 3 at the Brooklyn Waterfront overlooking the Manhattan skyline to experience this lednedary event. The specially designed tent could be seen by all of Manhattan as it glowed through out the night.
The night began with a grand opening of jugglers, Contortionists, Fire Eaters and strong Men who performed to DJ Pelle of The Hives. And continued with an impressive line up which included the Sri Lankan singer M.I.A who last month shocked the world by announcing she was retiring. But she impressed Brooklyn last night with her incredible performance.
The line up also included Franz Ferdinand, N*E*R*D, T.I, Chaka Khan, O Fracas, Jus Ske, DJ Pelle and the newest band to stir things up Hot Chip who had the whole crowd going with their song Ready for the Floor. They were later joined on stage by Chaka Khan for a fantastic live mash. One of the greatest figures in disco of all time meet pure cool new eccentric. Could it have been any better.
The night was full of famous faces including Lindsey Lohan, Taylor Momsen, Khloe Kardashian, Peaches Geldof, Chase Crawford, Roberto Cavalli and Zoe Kravitz.
