The Dorchester turns 80

The Dorchester turns 80

July 19, 2011

Considered as one of London's greatest landmarks, The Dorchester's 80th anniversary year was never going to go uncelebrated. So far, charity Trees for Cities, have planted 80 'Future Great Trees' around the capital to mark this special date and the hotel is in the process of putting together its very own commemorative cocktail and anniversary tea. But now master fashion illustrator David Downton appears to have got in on the act. To mark the birthday, he has designed 80 special prints of the hotel.Downton - who is renowned for his classically elegant and inimitable portraits - said recently, "It was fascinating for me to try and distil the essence of such an iconic building. As with a fashion drawing, I was seeking to capture a moment as well as convey something of The Dorchester's timeless heritage."

The prints, which are priced at £350 each, are available and on sale at the Shop at The Dorchester and the Dorchester's online shop.
