Festive Four Seasons

September 9, 2010

The launch date for London's new Four Seasons Hotel has been set for a festive 15 December and marks the end of a two-year, £125m redevelopment.

It may boast a whole new extra floor but the number of bedrooms has actually been reduced from 219 to 192 - no Tune Hotel style shoe-horning here thank you very much.

The brand new tenth floor is the work of architect Eric Parry. Completely made of glass, its stunning views over Hyde Park will perk up tired guests arriving prior to check-in time and provide a haven for a restorative breakfast and a shower. It will also house the hotel's spa with its sky-lit vitality pools, relaxation pods and Sky Suite for couples or group treatments with 180 degree views. There'll be additional areas available for private hire - not least a stunning balcony.

The interior is being designed by Paris-based designer Pierre-Yves Rochon - also behind the refurbishment of the Savoy! His vision is a combination of 1930s luxury cruise ship and English country house with working fireplaces, red damask walls and touches of tartan.

New Italian restaurant, Amaranto comprises three spaces taking in lounge, bar and dining room with outdoor terrace. Its its own street entrance on Hamilton Place is a telling sign that it has aspirations to be a whole lot more than an hotel restaurant.

Park Lane is certainly returning to its glory days.
