Any die hard muso will know Putney’s The Half Moon – a South West London bastion of live music for some 50 years hosting performances from huge names including The Rolling Stones, The Who, U2, Bo Diddley, Nick Cave and Streets of London fave, Ralph McTell.
The iconic public house has recently relaunched with a new wider food and drink offering to keep the roadies happy alongside that thriving programme of bands, DJs, acoustic, comedy and live entertainment that its fans have come to know and love.
Keep yourselves well lubricated with a wide range of cask ales, draft and bottled lagers and ciders from around the world but highlighting local brews including Sharps, Sambrook’s and Young’s plus an extensive wine list. And once you’ve worked up an appetite, get stuck into a selection of hearty traditional British cuisine including cured meats and pickles, eggs and bacon, fish and chips, burgers, apple pie and custard and hot chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream.
Jo Clevely and Clare Sibun have created a relaxing atmosphere with deep woody, earthy tones, comfy armchairs and large sofas alongside quirky features such as the “Beatles” embroidered armchair and Beatles “Lonely Hearts Club Band” drum.
The Half Moon is now part of gastropub chain, Geronimo Inns - St Pancras’ The Betjeman Arms, The Builders Arms in Chelsea, The Eagle in Shepherd’s Bush and of course, Notting Hill music favourite, The Elgin to name but a few – famed for championing seasonal British produce and the skills of individual chefs.
