Low Mayfair

Low Mayfair

Going underground Stephanie Hirschmiller Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Aura founder David Serlui and former Brompton Club partner, Andy Giorgini have teamed up to launch new members’ club Low in the heart of St James to be accessed through the back entrance of a restaurant and tucked away down a hidden staircase.

The strictly in-the-know destination will boast a ceiling embedded with thousands of glowing LEDs and then a black padded leather bar. Plush leather banquettes and booths surround the dance floor area and jars of Low’s own confectionary add a tongue-in-cheek touch to the décor.

But if you’re cruising Jermyn Street listening out for pumping tracks from the state-of-the art VOID speakers, don’t bother. The walls have all been soundproofed like a professional recording studio – both ensuring a clarity and quality of sound never experienced in a London nightclub before and that even the deepest of bass doesn’t escape its confines.

Low is set to feature up-and-coming DJs Wednesday through Saturday who although they’re largely unknown to Mayfair, are well respected from Tokyo to Detroit and the Wednesday night Kontrast will feature special guest DJS flown in from all over the world promising a warehouse vibe in boutique surroundings.

Drink Rum Raisin Martini (Rum Pampero Especial, Grapes, Crème de Cassis, Vanilla Syrup and Lemon Juice) or the signature (and we suspect deadly) Lotion shot (Ketel One Vodka, Cointreau, Crème de Mure, Lime Juice, Orange and Pineapple). Low’s answer to the Mayfair’s ubiquitous sharing cocktails? Packages of bottles and shots (so much more hygienic). And if you get the midnight munchies, the Low Club sandwich will pep you up in no time.

Opens 15 Dec
