Ed Wilson and Oli Barker’s award-winning Terroirs in Covent Garden and Brawn in Hoxton are getting a brand new sibling with the opening of Soif south of the river on Battersea Rise. The 70-seater space in SW11’s stylish hub will include a bar where you can grab drinks and light snacks and also a small front terrace - perfect when the sun is shining.
Famous for their innovative bistro dishes, small plates and rustic charcuterie and cheeses, the boys are set to continue their ethos of cooking well-sourced seasonal ingredients alongside an extensive range of natural and bio-dynamic wines.
New chef on board is Colin Westal who was most recently head chef at Le Café Anglais with Rowley Leigh following stints at Kensington Place, The Avenue and Ransome’s Dock.
The menu at Soif will be concise and change daily as driven by the market and seasons. Alongside an abundance of impeccably sourced charcuterie, typical main dishes may include Heirloom beetroots with baked ricotta and Valentini olive oil; Scallops with lardo di colonnata and Jugged hare while desserts include the decadent Bitter chocolate ganache with hazelnut cream. The wine list will feature about 150 bins starting at a reasonable £16 with up to 18 available by the glass.
The duo launched Terroirs back in 2008 to great critical acclaim and Brawn in East London’s Columbia Road followed two years later – respectively winning AA London Restaurant of the Year 2011 and Tatler’s Best Newcomer while both restaurants have Bib Gourmands from Michelin – in resto-speak, a rating based on both quality and affordability. Christmas is coming a month early for Clapham foodies!
