Flipping heck, it’s almost Shrove Tuesday aka Pancake Day! And, boy, are restos across the city pulling out all the stops for this very special, extra-indulgent day! Oh, of course you can count on Big Mamma for pulling out all of the stops for one mega pancake flipping extravaganza. Both Big Mamma’s London outposts, Gloria and Circolo Popolare will be serving up their legendary ricotta pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner in honour of the special Tuesday. Go all out on the toppings at South Place Chop House and indulge in dark chocolate pancakes slathered with hazelnut chocolate sauce, banana passion fruit compote and honeycomb. Or, for a really out their sickly-sweet hit, enjoy a ‘Swiss roll’ made up of vanilla crepes, caramelised apple and apple brandy cream topped with a slathering of caramel sauce. Chop House’s very own play on the French classic, apple tatin.
Albert is a genius. No, we’re not talking about Dr. Einstein (although he was pretty marvelous), we’re giving thanks to Albert Adrià, the legend behind the ‘air-pancake’. Over at Cakes & Bubbles, you can indulge in this extraordinary creation that’s effortlessly light and bursting with yoghurt foam and topped with a healthy serving of maple syrup butter and blueberry compote. It’s absolutely divine.

Savoury batter lovers, this one’s for you! Our favourite little Mayfair brasserie, Moncks is set to be fulfilling all of your salty cravings with their sensational pancake menu. Our favourite of the four hands down is the stack’o avocado, crispy bacon, feta and tomato relish. You seriously won’t regret tucking into this stack.
Shrove Tuesday wouldn’t be complete with a trip to Mews of Mayfair’s pancake pop-up. Whether you’re looking to wrap your hands around a stack piled high with bacon and maple syrup, or play it simple with a berry compote, you’ll be seriously satisfied.

Flipping heck, look at these fluff balls!
If you like your pancakes thick, nip down to Harvey Nichols for their all-you-can eat American-style offerings. Pile your pancakes high up with mixed fruits, chocolate-coated candied orange slices, roasted pecans (super fancy) and honeycomb, alongside a whole lotta sauces to drizzle on top too. For an additional £1, you can donate directly to StreetSmart, a national charity that raises money for homelessness in the UK.

Think three thick American-style pancakes combined with a shot of green matcha to add a little nutrition to the indulgent dish… Go savoury with house-cured salmon and a turmeric poached egg and avo-butter, or play it simple with melted avo-butter, sticky caramelised banana and a healthy slathering of maple syrup.

Born out of a pure love for the battered goodness, Where The Pancakes Are serves up pancakes every which way you could ever dream of.
