Amidst all of the Jubilee celebrations, June arrived and brought with it an exciting flurry of new restaurant openings landing this month!

From the playful Malaysian restaurant to know about to the new Greek arrival from the team behind Pachamama, here’s where to book this month.

Compton

Restaurant, bar and deli, Compton is the brand new Clerkenwell foodie venture everyone needs to try out. The restaurant will be pumping out Mediterranean inspired dishes, working with small-scale British suppliers to let the flavours come to life.

In the morning, expect the ovens to be firing out freshly baked goods, as well as stacks of pancakes, English muffins and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Over at the Deli, your lunch break is about to be taken to new heights, with salt beef bagels, charcuterie and artisan coffee.

Through lunch and dinner, choose from small plates of Smoked Haddock Croquettes; BBQ Cornish Mussels with dashi broth, lovage and crispy shallots; or larger plates of hand rolled Pappardelle with asparagus, broad bean, fresh peas and ricotta; and the changing BBQ ‘catch of the day’.

The menu, created by Barrafina’s Chef Director, Angel Zapata Martin, will feature dishes such as Serviola esqueixada (taken from the verb ‘to tear’ in Catalan, this is a shredded salad with raw serviola); Milk fed lamb cutlets; and Wood roast shank of veal. There’ll also be an outdoor terrace with tabletop ‘parrilla’ grills, so you can enjoy tasty Spanish dishes over the coals.

The wine list has been created by the group’s wine buyer Rafa Martin and head of beverage Nick Jackson, pulling in staple bottles from Barrafina, as well as some new extensions to the range.

Cocktails will also be on offer, including the Clara, made with Estrella Galicia, grapefruit and lemon sherbet, offering a twist on a traditional serve to offer a frit, sugary finish.

Expect bar snacks galore, including cold tapas of olives, almonds and crisps, as well as gildas; Chorizo Ibérico; Salchichón Ibérico; Lomo doblado Ibérico; AA anchovies d’Escala; and Mojama (air dried tuna) with olive oil and hazelnuts.
