The only thing getting us through the slog of WFH life and lockdown 3.0 right now is music. It acts as a distraction; an escape from reality, even if for a short period of time.
If you too are looking for a way to break out from what’s going on in the world right now, here are seven playlists to pop on while you’re stuck inside this week.
Monday: The Bright Side
Ease into the working week with this Spotify playlist that oozes good vibes. These fifty songs will provide the perfect soundtrack to your WFH set-up, providing you with three hours of pure bliss. Type away to Liz Lawrence, beabadoobee and Jake Bugg. You’ll be able to cast your minds away from reality at the click of a button.
Tuesday: good energy
We’re all in need of some positive energy right now. Here to help you fight through the working week is Spotify’s good energy playlist. It’s jam-packed with energising songs that’ll no doubt bring a smile to your face, from Harry Styles’ ‘Golden’ to Glass Animals ‘Tangerine, to a few new artists you’re yet to discover.
Get over hump day with some good ol’ British tunes. Spotify’s The Great British Breakfast playlist is filled with, you guessed it, bangers. Fuel your midweek slump with the likes of The Waterboys, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Smiths and The 1975. We all know how tiresome Wednesday’s feel but hopefully this playlist will pump you with the energy you need to get through it.
Thursday: Easy 70s
They don’t call Thursday ‘Throwback Thursday’ for nothing. This Thursday whack out the tunes courtesy of Spotify’s Easy 70s playlist. Listen to everyone from Fleetwood Mac to George Harrison, Neil Diamond to Dolly Parton. Pop this one on after lunchtime and you can imagine it’s Friday afternoon already.
Friday: Game Night
If The Queen’s Gambit still has you in a board game frenzy, we’ve found the perfect soundtrack to your next game night with your housemates or bubble. Spotify’s Game Night playlist is filled with tonnes of goldies, from Stevie Wonder through to The Supremes, Leon Bridges to Elvis Presley. Expect to be singing along and being a major distraction to your fellow competitors.
Let’s face it, there’s not an awful lot to do at the weekend since we’ve entered lockdown 3.0 but one thing we can take solace in, is our daily walks. If you went too hard on your ab and glute at home workouts this week, take it easy with a simple stroll around your local neighbourhood. And the soundtrack to guide you on your journey? Spotify’s Powerwalk! playlist of course. Regularly updated, listen to the likes of Hozier, Dua Lipa and Halsey this Saturday.
Sunday: Bottomless Brunch
Sunday brunch might feel like a thing of the past but you can still enjoy the goodness at home with friends, virtually. A few weekends ago I asked my friends to all join me for a virtual bottomless brunch over Zoom and we had this kicking playlist from Spotify playing in the background. It almost felt like we were all together at our favourite local brunch spot. Recreate your own and bop your head to Cardi B, Ariana Grande and Stormzy.
