Cooking up a storm: TMRW Project Presents the Chefs of Tomorrow

There’s not many things we Londoners love more than food, new places to eat, and talented chefs with shiny new menus – that’s exactly what Chefs of Tomorrow is promising. Started in 2015, Chefs of Tomorrow was Dan Doherty’s (of London favourite Duck and Waffle) idea to find a way for young chefs to grow, develop and connect with each other and others in the industry. He has since teamed up with writer Anna Sulan Masing and Emily Underwood (of Burnt Truffle) for a collaboration entitled the TMRW project. At its foundation, the project’s basis is the Chefs of Tomorrow, which is […]

Openings & Launches

Jason Atherton Opens Hai Cenato

If you go to Italy and they say Hai Cenato then say no. Why? Because it translates to ‘Have you had dinner?’ and if there is the chance for more food, especially in Italy, you’ve always get to say yes. If someone here asks if you’ve been to Hai Cenato then you’ll want to say no too. Why? It’s also the name of the next restaurant from The Social Company and you then have an excuse for your friend to take you…sneaky. Opening in Nova next week, it’s the second time that Jason and Irha Atherton have collaborated with Chef […]

We Meat Again: Meatopia Returns to Tobacco Docks

Thick cut steaks, burgers and smoked racks of ribs, no this is not an advert for M&S, but a public service announcement: Meatopia UK is back. The event, scheduled for September 2017, sees the return of Meatopia to London’s Tobacco Dock to host a legendary line-up of chefs from around the world. Yes, we know it’s not even Spring yet, but tickets have just gone on sale so get in there whilst you can. The carnivorous congregation will see chefs, restaurateurs and gourmands uniting over ethically sourced meat, cooked fresh over fires (no mircowaves, no propane, but actual fires).  The […]

Les Deux Salons Review: What We Thought

New? Les Deux Salons has proudly stood off Trafalgar Square since 2011 but a recent facelift and 2014 takeover from Terence and Vicky Conran and Peter Prescott has given it a new lease of life. A new ‘en famille’ menu, designed for sharing is the latest new addition. Where? 40-42 King William IV Street, WC2N 4DD www.lesdeuxsalons.co.uk First Impressions: The illuminated frontage and elegant green awnings made Les Deux Salons an inviting place to dart from the rain and, inside, an unmistakably Parisian feel is split across the ground floor bistro, épicerie and cave à vin and the first floor restaurant. On the damp […]

3rd Yard Sale Opens

One day we will travel the length of every tube line and, when we do, we’ll start with the Victoria line – mainly because it is the shortest but also because at one end is Walthamstow, soon to be home to the award-winning Yard Sale Pizza and if anything is going to get us on the tube for longer than necessary then it’s going to be pizza. It’s the third opening for the Yard Sale team, who already have ventures in Clapton and Finsbury Park and once again it’s all about that double fermented dough. You’ll want to try The […]

London’s First Authentic Aperitivo Bar

Warm, lazy summers, beautiful architecture, and home of pizza, the Italians seem to have got it right. What more could they do, you ask? We have one word for you: aperitivo. This idea, cultivated in Milan, marries drinks and small platters to create social dining at its finest. Ritorno, a recent addition to the Kings Road, brings the authentic aperitivo experience to the heart of Chelsea, with a twist. Drinks take centre-stage at Ritorno, with Regional Specialities inspired by native Italian poets and four sub-sections of cocktails guaranteed to test your decision making skills. Distinctly decadent, the Perla combines silver […]

Selfridges’ Rooftop Restaurant Gets Wasted

The eternally popular Selfridges rooftop has just announced an innovative new partnership which is sure to keep demand as high as ever and will see it transformed into a rooftop garden exhibition. Turning to a trio of leading restauranteurs from across the pond, Selfridges are turning their attention to a hugely understated area of the restaurant industry; food waste. With 210,000 tonnes of food thrown away annually by British restaurants, there’s a whole lot more that needs to be done than just whacking a fish pie on the specials menu the day after that pan-fried sea bass didn’t quite sell […]

The Ivy Celebrates 100 Years

We won’t lie, we have been known to have multiple birthday celebrations. Let’s say your birthday falls on a Tuesday – that’s no fun. You’ll need to go for dinner on the day itself but then the weekend calls for the main celebrations, and maybe a brunch the next day for a full debrief of the night before. That makes three birthday-related events and we could probably do even more… So how do you go about celebrating 100 years? London icon The Ivy turns 100 this year and, to celebrate, are holding a whole host of events throughout the year. We […]

Aquum Brunch Review: What We Thought

What: The new Greek-inspired, bottomless brunch offering from Clapham bar Aquum complete with boards games and even an adult ball pit. New? Aquum originally opened in 2007 and had a complete refurbishment in September 2016. Where? 68-70 Clapham High Street, Clapham, SW4 7UL www.aquum.co.uk On the Menu: Expect traditional brunch items like full fry ups and eggs benedict but being a predominantly Greek restaurant you’ll also see pork belly souvlaki and chicken pitta with tabbouleh salad. First Impressions: I hadn’t seen Aquum since it had its refurbishment but I liked the new look; it was a slick bar but was still welcoming in the middle […]
