Indigo at One Aldwych review – what we thought

Hot on the heels on the trend of healthy eating is Indigo, an established restaurant in the beautiful hotel One Aldwych, which 3 months ago quietly stripped gluten and diary from their menu. Executive Chef Dominic Teague was in charge of this decision and claims that customers haven’t been able to tell the difference; we headed down to check it out. Up one snazzy, pink lit, mirrored elevator and we found ourselves at Indigo which is partially situated on a balcony overlooking the One Aldwych bar. Near Christmas is a good time to go as their towering white Christmas tree […]

5 of the Best Winter Dates

For some bizarre reason, the general feeling among friends and colleagues is that summer is the best season to find love in London. However, over at the Handbook, we completely disagree with this consensus. Now that the days are shorter and colder, London offers an array of dreamy winter date nights that we feel make the chilly season the perfect time of year to find “the one”. So, without further ado, check out our definitive guide to London’s best winter dates. Dogtown Vs Slap & Pickle Food Battle

We don’t like fighting, it’s not really our scene unless, that is, it’s an epic battle, a fight worth our time… in short, a food fight. Not the sort of fight though that you picture happening in school canteens where somewhere throws some chips and then someone lobs a yoghurt back (did that ever really happen?) no we mean the sort where two street food companies go head to head in a cooking battle and we get to decide the winner. The King Co. in Clapham have welcomed  in burger connoisseurs Slap & Pickle and Dogtown London, the hot dog […]

Mimosa’s New Club

Recognise this familiar scene? You’re out for supper, you’ve got the cocktails in, the bottles of wine and now you’re friend who always suggests shots, is suggesting shots. Next thing you know and everyone is saying lets go out. You’re all ready to go, but then you look outside and it’s raining and windy and suddenly the appeal of going out and leaving the warmth of the restaurant seems less appealing, suddenly a taxi home seems very appealing. Well not anymore, because tomorrow sees the opening of Mimosa’s new club, below its restaurant.  The Fulham Road restaurant which serves up […]

Christmas Unwrapped Afternoon Tea Review – What We Thought

I might be one of the only people to say this, but I’m not such a fan of Winter Wonderland. Too many people, the older I get the worse I seem to get at ice-skating and I’m not a fan of enforced fun, in short, it brings out the Grinch in me, I go from Tiny Tim to Ebenezer Scrooge before he sees all the Christmas ghosts. However, what I do like, are Christmas afternoon teas, even when they are right next to Winter Wonderland. So as I joined the crowds piling out of Hyde Park Corner tube, they trooped […]
