Reform Social and Grill Yorkshire Pudding Menu Review – What We Thought

I’m not sure where the ‘social’ part of Reform Social and Grill comes from, but the gentleman’s club vibe they are trying to achieve does come across – burgundy button-backed banquettes and mahogany furniture; job well done. Having barged my way across Oxford Street I sought refuge at Reform Social and Grill. The white pillared entrance gave a sense of occasion to a rainy Saturday, with the restaurant itself feeling easy-going and tucked away (in the best way). As I walk to my table I always like to peer at other diners’ food. Burgers, steaks and Yorkshire puddings were definitely order of the […]

8 Mount Street Review – What We Thought

We’re always on the look out for new places to have brunch and so finding ourselves in Mayfair last week we headed to the recently opened brasserie, 8 Mount Street.  With golden brass panelled walls and crisp linen cloths lining the tables,  the overall look is elegant, smart yet still understated. Downstairs you’ll find a dimly lit, intimate bar, which says it has the feeling of a private member’s club, without the membership prices of course. Something also has to be said about the bathrooms. I always check out the bathrooms wherever I go, necessity normally calls for it, but these loos […]

Gluten-Free Cookery Masterclasses

If any of you saw the recent Channel 4 Supershoppers programme, you will have seen it name and shame brands for (amongst other things) claiming gluten-free credentials but that actually never included gluten anyway – it’s basically like sticking a ‘gluten-free’ sticker on a banana and charging twice the price. Heading to this mind-boggling aisle in the supermarket may make you feel healthy but if you really just want to know what’s in your food without the distracting packaging, why not just make it yourself? The next issue is the mound of Deliciously/Wonderfully/Honestly gluten-free recipe books and millions of Google search results. Stop. Keep […]
