Be seduced by this exhibition

South Place Hotel is aiming to seduce you this February. If Valentine’s Day wasn’t enough (yes we are already thinking about it, no you can’t ignore it) then they are also unveiling their latest exhibition from international artist Dara Vandor and it’s got seduction written all over it. Aptly named Lingerie Draw/er the exhibition (which is pen on canvas) will feature sensuous portraits of lingerie, camisoles, frills, lace, feathers and corsets but, and here is the unusual part, all without female models. What emerge are ambiguous pictures which explore both personal and social fantasies.  And on 5th February they’re inviting […]

A new Joint in town

Back in August 2012 Daniel Fiteni and Warren Dean set up a pop-up in Brixton Village Market, The Joint, serving up a whole load of pulled pork (they’re experts on the stuff), slaw and spicy wings – they were among London’s pioneers for American BBQ scene. Fast forward to 2015 and they’ve just launched their second branch in Marylebone. Situated on New Cavendish Street, the restaurant is kept simple with festoon lighting, long refectory tables, wooden benches, bare walls and industrial metal work – even the food was served on paper plates. If you’re taking a date expect it to […]

Our Guide To… Burns Night in London

This Sunday is Burns Night, a day of haggis, piping and poetry. For those of you who don’t know the history of Burns Night, let us tell you. Scotland’s National Poet, Robert Burns (or Rabbie, as he was known), may have only lived until he was 37 but in that time he wrote some pretty epic poems, including Auld Lang Syne and an Address to Haggis. After his death on the 25th January 1796, his friends started to celebrate his life, and so Burns Night was born and London well and truly adopted it. Celebrating with haggis, tatties, neeps and whisky, […]

Tapas Revolution

The Spanish are real pros when it comes to delivering fast food. You don’t get much faster than traditional Spanish tapas after all. With his Tapas Revolution, Spanish chef Omar Allibhoy has successfully converted that authentic local tapas vibe into a mini chain – there are already venues in Westfield London at Shepherd’s Bush and in Bluewater Kent – and next month he’s extending it to Shoreditch’s Bethnal Green Road. Tapas Revolution is Allibhoy’s personal interpretation of the lively and bustling tapas bars in his hometown of Madrid and this latest instalment will be open all day and use ingredients […]
