We Get Savaged By This Rooftop Restaurant

The hype at Savage Garden is all about debauchery, from devil-horned cocktails and black-dyed food to sexy DJs and darkened rooms – the stuff of a Marilyn Manson wet dream, when he’s not dreaming about removing ribs and gyrating on stage in a leather thong that is. Savage Garden, under the veil of darkness, definitely has a kind of we-could-get-into-trouble-here vibe; it’s dimly lit and there is loud music pumping from a purposefully chosen young, blonde DJ that certainly doesn’t harm the aesthetic. It’s an ideal date spot my taken plus one notes casually, it’s not the first time I’ve […]

One Hula Of A Night: All The Best Tiki Bars In London

Pass me that coconut bikini and a grass skirt, I’m going to limbo over to the bar and grab me some pina colada. Yes, we’re in the world of tiki, that magical part-Polynesian, part-supreme-kitsch, place where it’s Hawaii every day of the year. They may all look TOTALLY IDENTICAL...

The Massive Kaleidoscope You Can Actually Walk Inside

Remember kaleidoscopes, off of childhood? This was full-on Lucy In The Sky style tripping for 6 year olds, as the colours rotated and combined. It was legit nearly as mind-bending as those origami fortune tellers. Mine was red and plastic and without fail would induce a Timothy Leary experience. But now Londoners can repeat the sensation and on a massive massive scale, as Kaleidoscope at the Saatchi Gallery opens tomorrow and runs until May 5th – wahoo! London artist Laura Buckley specialises in ‘walk in multimedia’, no not a euphemism for James May’s wardrobe but rather giant, kaleidoscopic creations that are, if […]

Where To Eat Out In… South Kensington

South Kensington, a bizarre clash of old English respectability (seven bed house in The Boltons? That’ll be £49,000,000 please), meets French people (the Lycée’s on Cromwell Road) and a thriving Arab community, and all clashing with heavy throng of touristic all-comers heading to museumland, where the V&A, Science Museum and Natural History Museum vye for square footage with tens of thousands of Imperial College students. And because they all need feeding, there’s a vibrant restaurant scene to be found in this loosely defined space between Chelsea, Knightsbridge, High Street Ken and Earl’s Court. CERU Restaurant Bright and breezy in appearance, […]

We’ve Found A Dating App With An Actual Waiting List… This Is Why

The Inner Circle is a dating app we covered a while ago and which received some ‘creative’ feedback, so we decided to give it a go and test it out for ourselves. The results? It actually sort of works! The Inner Circle is taking the opposite approach to regular dating apps and trying to get you off your phone as soon as possible by using IRL tips like hotspots and travel features, and hosting events that people actively recommended to us. It is just a solidly good app with fewer random people. The Inner Circle is taking advantage of a screening process that […]

Lucha Libre, Mexico’s Craziest Sport, Is Coming To London!

It’s big, colourful, brash and violent and we love it. Mexico’s favourite sport, Lucha Libre, scores so highly on the crazy scale that Donald Trump looks like Stephen Hawking and its closest living relative, WWE, might as well be tiddlywinks. And best of all, it’s coming here. The Roundhouse will be hosting the professional wrestling phenomenon for one day only this May, and we’re expecting it to be messy, chaotic, bizarre and so much fun. Originating in the early 20th century, Lucha Libre has morphed into something truly unique, wrestling that’s characterised by colourful masks, outrageous costumes, acrobatic and high flying manoeuvres […]
