8 of the Best Midweek Bars & Clubs

Let’s set the scene. It’s a Wednesday night. You’ve been out for dinner with your mates and shared a few bottles of wine. You know you’ve got work in the morning but, rather than go home to bed like any sensible person would, you find yourself agreeing to stay out for ‘just one more’. Then, before you know it, it’s 1am, you’ve polished off an unknown number of rum and cokes and you’re on a packed night bus, holding a Big Mac and dreading the moment when your alarm goes off in 5 hours time. Outside London, such weeknight drinking […]

Eat Your Drink with Smith & Sinclair

Following the crowd can be a bad thing, but when the crowd in question are funding your business, it is certainly a good thing. Smith & Sinclair the edible cocktail people had their dreams come true when their business plan was sufficiently backed by crowdfunding. Now stocked in Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Selfridges, the edible alcoholic pastilles are coming to Carnaby Street in pop-up form. Amongst the magical Christmas lights of Soho’s kitsch-est street, the Eat Your Drink pop-up is promising their signature cocktail pastilles alongside gin and tonic bubbles, cocktail candy floss and (our favourite sounding thing) mojito and […]

The Shapes of Sicily: Pasta Making at Iddu

For every person who is (or claims to be) gluten free, there are the die hard dough-fans who take every pizza, doughnut or bagel that comes their way. Homemade pasta? Absolutely. Especially at this time of year. Don’t worry though, you won’t have to dust off your (non-existent) pasta maker because Iddu are hosting pasta making classes with Sicilian sisters Nina, Sofia and Emilia Strazzanti. Sicilian restaurant Iddu in South Kensington has the feel of a Sicilian deli that has been modernised, polished and given an organic/raw/gluten-free makeover, fit for the health conscious residents of South Kensington. The Strazzani Sisters […]

5 of the Best Spots in London for Eggs

One dish and ingredient-inspired restaurants have taken London by storm the last couple of years. It all started with the burger but since we’ve seen meatball, roast potato, hot dog and kebab dedicated restaurants appear. Most recently, the humble egg is proving popular, with a spate of egg-themed restaurants hatching all over the capital. We’ve rounded up our five favourites:

Coin Laundry Opens

When it comes to comfort food the English does it well and you know when we did it particularly well? In the 70s and 80s. Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea review – what we thought

Alice in Wonderland is one of the most well-known tales and while other venues have tried their hand at creating a themed afternoon tea, nowhere else quite has the quirk factor that the Sanderson London does. As soon as I walk through the door I am greeted by a hot red lips sofa and I wonder how my flatmate would feel if I inconspicuously added it to our living room. The foyer smells like a Jo Malone candle and although none of the décor has any kind of consistency, it still has an air of glamour of being high-end. We […]

One-O-One Review – What We Thought

With an enviable position in Knightsbridge and claims that they are the ‘best fish restaurant in London’ we had high hopes for One-O-One. And despite an excellent starter and pudding what happened for the next couple of hours however, left us questioning such claims. Part of the The Park Tower Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, the restaurant felt neither part of the hotel nor its own restaurant; we arrived to an empty reception, after a while a waiter saw us standing there and showed us through to the restaurant, but it felt as if we had put them out. Inside […]
