Hotel Chantelle Review – What We Thought

Having amassed a crowd of followers in New York already, Hotel Chantelle jumped over the pond to open its first restaurant earlier this year and no, despite its name, it is not a hotel. That said given it’s black exterior and neon sign, had it been another part of town you might be forgiven for thinking it was some sort of hotel. The first thing about Hotel Chantelle is that it’s very unapologetically New York. Music was blaring, cocktails were being shaken and it was full of the most beautiful people all dressed in black. Not the customers, no they […]

The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone Opens

In recent years London’s boutique hotels have made a name for themselves, people are after something a little more personal, a little more unique and something which feels more like a home from home (there’s also less chance of getting lost in the maze of corridors and rooms, just saying) and the latest boutique hotel to open is The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone. Its sister hotel, The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell is said to feel less like a hotel and more like the house of a fabulous and eccentric great aunt (her name is Wilhelmina if you’re wondering) and the Marylebone addition […]

The London Royal Tea

As we all know afternoon tea is a very British tradition, all thanks to the Duchess of Bedford being rather peckish between meals and Hotel Café Royal is launching The London Royal Tea on the 14th September which will be a celebration of both London and British history. Served in the iconic Oscar Wilde Bar, the afternoon tea service will begin with a bell being rung to signal the start of service which harks back to the 1800s when the muffin men would ring their bells to say the muffins were ready, that is until 1839 when it was prohibited. Meet the Makers at Selfridges

Selfridges have an exciting and unusual programme of events on until October focused on bridging the gap between maker and consumer. Because we all love food, but do we know where it comes from? As the name suggests you can ‘Meet the Makers’ – the artisans and foodies who have made their passions into a full time business and are now selling their goodies in the Selfridges Food Hall. Taking things back to basics, Selfridges is also becoming the first retailer to stock beautifully packaged foraged ingredients and wild foods for those who want to become slightly more adventurous cooks […]

8 Places to Celebrate Game Season

Apart from our huge population of pigeons being in London means we don’t tend to see many birds let alone grouse or pheasants. Whilst our country counterparts might laugh at our lack of nature, it doesn’t mean we can’t join them to celebrate the start of the game season. As we move into autumn it’s time to ditch the salads and get stuck into pheasant stews, grouse pie and believe it or not squirrel. It’s time to bring your A game to these 8 places:

Secret Santa: Words of Advice

Dreaded office ‘team building’ generally consists of an organisation of Secret Santa (or ‘oh god, bloody secret santa’), buying a Christmas present for someone you probably don’t know or like, usually with a £5 budget. Great- go wild. Don’t worry, The Handbook are on hand to give you some words of advice:  Money Restrictions  £5 restricts you quite a bit, so rule number 1 is to not get at ALL excited when your Secret Santa hands you their gift. Generally, you will receive something incredibly useful, such as a pen (stolen from the stationary cupboard) or a pot of out-of-date chocolate body paint […]
