Don’t worry nor do we, but what we do know is that Voltaire is the place to go learn all the tricks of the trade. Their monthly tutorials focus each month on a different ingredient or brand and this month it is gin. Which is great because right now gin is in.  Low in calories, it is marvellous for everyone who is now gearing up to get […]

The Handbook takes a trip to The Truscott Arms

Last week The Handbook headed over to Maida Vale to try out the Truscott Arms.  Things took a bit of a slow start, it took a while to be served despite the bar being relatively quiet and quite a few staff working.  We were sat up in the restaurant, a large room light, airy room with high ceilings and large sash windows, it will look lovely when the sun is shining and would be brilliant for getting a large group together for a meal or to hire out for a party. Things were a little quiet, and for a while […]

Gangam Style chef required by Psy

Gangam Style pop sensation Psy has teamed up with Bibigo, his favourite Korean restaurant to search for his very own personal chef to ‘mix it up’ on the first leg of his world tour starting later this summer. In a characteristically bonkers video announcing the competition, Psy promised celebrity parties, five star hotels along with $40,000 for the winner and, of course, not forgetting the once-in-a-lifetime chance to hang out with the flamboyant Korean superstar for a whole month making sure he is well fed! Cooking skills are not even necessary to win, all Psy and Bibigo are looking for […]

Redesigned and Transformed: Imli Street

B3 Designers have worked their award winning magic and completely redesigned and reinvented Imli Street restaurant in Soho.  Emulating street scenes, the designers have completely transformed the restaurant from a traditional Indian setting into an urban, raw space.  The 300 square metres have been opened up and stripped back. Picture exposed brickwork, poured concrete walls, rustic oak table tops, distressed steel, exposed cabling and a centralised feature bar. The mood is industrial, open and natural, the perfect setting to eat Indian street food. The Imli Street has also revolutionised its menu, to complete the transformation. Developed by Alfred Prasad, the […]

Great Gatsby Nights

A  pinch of glamour, a splash of jazz, a whirl of art and culture, mix in frivolity, dust in pearls and feathers and  we have the Roaring 1920s. Post war the economy flourished, technology developed and the parties grew bigger, and what book is a better portrayal of this luxury  than The Great Gatsby?  So it only seems that the correct way to celebrate the release of Baz Luhrman’s adaptation of the The Great Gatsby is with a party or two, or if you are like the Hyatt Regency Churchill, five.  Every Thursday evening during May The Montagu restaurant will […]

Say Cheese!

Babbo has just introduced a special four-course burrata menu created by new head chef Carlo Scotto. A starter of Burrata cheese with tomato and basil is followed by homemade tortelli pasta with burrata, parmesan and herbs served with butter and nduja sauce. The main course of beef fillet with spinach, burrata and tapenade leads into the dessert – sweet creamy burrata with berries in Caprese style. Babbo’s burrata is flown over from Italy twice a week from Caseificio Maldera, a factory specialising in producing the artisanal cheese using only traditional handmade methods. First created in 1920, the cheese originates from […]
