The Lobster Kitchen

D H Lawrence once said, “Europe’s the mayonnaise alright, but America supplies good, old lobster.” Fast forward a hundred years and Mr Lawrence’s pronouncement requires some much needed revision with the opening of The Lobster Kitchen on Great Russell Street this week. Yes, crustacean lovers, as of the 28th October, the team at the Lobster Kitchen will be providing the people of London with some good quality lobster equal to (if not better) than the lobster that you’ll find in Maine. Staying true to its name, there will be only one ingredient on the menu. Yes, you’ve guessed it, lobster. […]

Valentina Fine Foods Review

Valentina Fine Foods is a series of Italian restaurants and delis that has recently launched a new branch in Chiswick, we headed down to check it out. From the street Valentina Fine Foods looks like a café and deli with all kinds of authentic produce lining the walls, it’s only after walking in that you realise a smart restaurant sits at the back. Even further back is the open plan kitchen which serves classic Italian dishes, check your table for the list of changing specials which aren’t on the menu. The specials when we went were Mussels to start, served […]

The Cavendish

Marylebone: home to Sherlock Holmes, A- list celebrities and now a brand new contemporary European restaurant, The Cavendish. The restaurant which opens its door this week, houses a 1940s gentleman clubs interior designed by the team behind Tom’s Kitchen, The Botanist and Copita.   The new restaurant doesn’t just look the part, the food is also set to live up to expectations and with Alfonso Lillo Fas heading it up this is no surprise. For all those that don’t already know, Fas was trained at El Bulli and was also a finalist on the Spanish equivalent of Masterchef. There will […]

The Little Yellow Door

Let’s be honest, as much as we love a good night out, it is pretty difficult to top a great house party. There is just something about these wild affairs that you wouldn’t find on your average night out and whilst the flat party we have in mind is probably more Made in Chelsea than Skins, that does not reduce it standing as a great affair. For this reason alone, we were delighted to hear about The Little Yellow Door, a party pop-up that is descending onto Notting Hill Gate promising weekly dinners and drinks that will be difficult to […]

The Georgian Restaurant: Review

It was a Sunday afternoon and we were in need of being taken care of and a little indulgence, so we promptly took ourselves off to The Georgian restaurant at Harrods who have recently launched a new lunch menu. Set on the 4th floor, The Georgian, (which has recently been refurbished by Christopher Guy Harrison) is spacious, opulent and sumptuous; chandeliers and regal looking velvet wing back chairs without being overwhelming or stuffy. Charming waiters tended to the guests whilst the pianist soothed everyone’s back to school Sunday afternoon feelings with live music (and 6 renditions of Happy Birthday). The menu […]

Capturing Kings Cross with Foto Ruta

2014 was officially coined ‘the year of the selfie’ but this looks set to change with the Fota Ruta Clue, a photographic pop-up that seeks to celebrate one of most polarising and evolving neighbourhoods in London: Kings Cross. Based at the St. Pancras Hotel, the camera will be turned on its head, capturing the sights of the city and using photography to engage people with their surroundings in a sociable and creative way. Now, we know that Kings Cross is often seen as a commuter hub, a stop on a journey rather than the final destination, but Foto Ruta hope […]
