Ben’s Canteen Earlsfield: Review

Chances are if you live in Clapham that after a heavy night you’ve dragged your sorry hung over head to Ben’s Canteen on St John’s Hill for one of their infamous brunches, ordered eggs or a burger and a round of Bloody Marys. Have you been to Ben’s Canteen over in Earlsfield though? Having opened earlier this year, the sister site is larger than its counterpart but still with that simple, laid back charm that Ben’s Canteen is known for. Though both serve evening menus, I feel as if this is the one I would choose to dine in at […]

London’s First Wild Flower Walk

This year is the 125th anniversary of The Savoy but rather than expect a hefty haul of birthday presents as someone of 125 should, they are giving something back to London and in particular Britain’s bees. They are creating the capital's first ever central wildflower walk, River of Flowers Central London in partnership with social enterprise, ‘River of Flowers’ which is launching this month. The aim is to increase the planting of native wildflowers in the city and the awareness of green and floral spaces along the Thames. Dotted along the banks of the river, patches of wild flowers will […]

Top label designers have had bespoke menus created for them like the carb free option for Fendi which has options like hand-chopped pesto with parmesan jelly, and watermelon tartare with a mango ‘yolk’. The party that we want to be invited to the most though is the Valentino party, with their sweet canapés such as elderflower marshmallow rolled in orange sorbet, mini doughnuts in coffee sugar and bubble-gum raspberry pavlovas. The clever folk […]

El Pirata: Review

El Pirata in Mayfair cites itself as ‘informal, inexpensive and authentic Spanish tapas’ so in preparation for a trip to Barcelona later in the year we went down to check it out. When we arrived almost every inch of the front door was covered in stickers informing us that they had appeared in food guides, had won numerous awards and so on, rather impressive maybe but it rather cheapened the look of the place, I think the fact that they’ve survived 20 years in Mayfair, whilst other restaurants open and close before you’ve ordered your starter, is testament to the […]
