Le Cercle Restaurant Review

Last week The Handbook braved the torrential rain to head over to Le Cercle, in search of their tasting menu. Having waded through the puddles on Sloane Square, we slipped off onto Wilbraham Place, through the glass doors, down a set of stairs into Le Cercle. Despite having no windows, Le Cercle feels spacious, light, and airy whilst at the same time cosy and intimate, a mix of little booths, tables and bar seats. The tall ceilings and white walls made us feel almost as if we were in some cavern and yet the seats by the fire were like […]

The Earl Derby

The Earl Derby is an historic pub in Kilburn that is relaunching under its original name next week Thursday. It is taking exceptional pride in its status as ‘a proper pub’ serving honest food and drink on the bustling thoroughfare of Kilburn High Road. The 200-cover venue will be decked out in elegant tones of navy and grey, with reclaimed timber flooring, exposed brickwork and rustic oak panelling. Curved Chesterfield-style sofas, distressed tables, hanging pendant lamps and vintage chandeliers will complete the look. We hear that a lot of pride has also been taken with the drinks list: there’s a […]

Brunch at 3 South Place Review

This weekend, The Handbook headed over to 3 South Place Bar and Grill at South Place Hotel in Moorgate for a spot of brunch. Well I say a spot of brunch, it was actually a delicious three course affair at 1pm, so more of a lunch, but we ordered from the brunch menu so to us it is brunch! The restaurant, which is the main restaurant for South Place Hotel is a mix of individual tables, long communal tables and sofas, all very relaxed and friendly but at the same time very sleek and smart.  It was softly lit and […]

A Thieves Market of Flavours in Mayfair

Chor Bizarre in Mayfair is an exquisitely decorated Indian restaurant which has based its interior around its name meaning ‘thieves market’ with a mix of beautifully decorated chairs, tables and ornaments filling the dining area. The menus aren’t left out either as they are covered with detailed drawings of the markets with introductions to the dishes before listing the food. The starter of Aloo tikki chaat were nice potato patties filled with spiced lentil and green peas, served warm, topped with yoghurt, tamarind and mint chutney. They were pleasant but lacked the proper Indian spices to separate it from a […]

South Place Hotel Final Terrace Party

We might be heading towards Autumn but that doesn’t mean that we can’t party outside anymore. Squeezing every last drop out of Summer, South Place Hotel are rounding off their 1st birthday celebrations with the final terrace party of the year on Sunday 29th September. Past terrace parties have seen the likes of Skream, Krystal Clear and A Party With Us take to the decks, and this time it is up to Harri and Domenic, resident DJs at Glasgow’s Sub Club to get everyone dancing.   There is nothing more indulgent then day time partying, so we say head over […]

The Handbook Reviews Parlour

Having been invited to go and review Parlour in Kensal Rise, I readily accepted and as always checked out the menu before we arrived. I was intrigued by the Cow Pie, it sounded like the sort of meal that would pack a punch both in flavour and size and since I am already heading into the autumn/winter comfort food zone I was hoping it would still be on the menu. Luckily it was on the menu, but if you think that is all we ate you would be very wrong. We were on a culinary journey, all I can say […]
