SOHO DINER

With perfect Independence Day timing, Soho House’s brand new Soho Diner launches today on the former site of Boheme Kitchen & Bar. Interiors  are inspired by the traditional American diner and the restaurant will offer both booth and counter top dining around a central bar, serving a blend of French and American food. Soho Diner follows the Electric Diner, which launched in December 2012, and is similarly a creative collaboration between Nick Jones and Chicago chef, Brendan Sodikoff. The culinary trendsetter owns Chicago restaurant Au Cheval, upon which both diners are based. The restaurant will open from 11am through to […]

Bompass & Parr to publish gustatory works

Jellymongers’ Bompass & Parr are best known for designing spectacular experiences designed to alter the taste of foods with synaesthesia, performance and setting. Their latest venture – the launch of their own publishing house, Bompass & Parr editions, has allowed them to create food publications so hairy and muscular for conventional publishing routes! The publisher’s first book Tutti Frutti with Bompass & Parr and Friends will certainly be far from your iconic cookbook like those of Jamie Oliver. Instead this sensual book provides its readers with extraordinary imagery and provocative recipes. Pictures of pasta will be replaced by sexually and […]

Launch of Italian Bakery – Dolcezza

The 4th of July will see the launch of Dolcezza – London’s first authentic Italian ‘pasticceria’ (an Italian bakery for those not in the know). Think handmade pastries, cakes and tarts made following time-honoured Italian recipes and organic ingredients. Most Londoners are familiar with French patisseries but less is known about Italy’s take on sweet baking which is exactly why Tuscan native Max Natalini has decided to open one himself. Located on Clapham road, Dolcezza will serve favourites such as cream-filled cannoli, orange croissants  and sfogliatelle to tickle those taste buds. For those without a sweet tooth, Dolcezza also does […]

Pearls and Oysters at Quaglino’s

To celebrate the launch of its cocktail and jazz bar, The Hutch Club at Quaglino’s, the restaurant is hiding a South Sea Ronirose pearl worth £2,000 in an oyster for one lucky diner to find. The initiative takes inspiration from Barbara Cartland, who once found a pearl in her oyster while dining there in the 1930s. To be in with a chance you just need to order the West Mersea Rock Oysters priced at £2.25 each or while enjoying The Hutch Club 1929 menu which includes Six West Mersea Rock Oysters and a coupe of Champagne, ( £19.29). The lucky […]

Christopher’s Marvellous Martini Bar

It was Tuesday, and we needed a cocktail, something classic but still inventive, something like a martini. So we headed over to Christopher’s in Covent Garden to try out their bar, which just so happens specialises in martini’s – the Martini Bar. The bar takes on a theatrical appearance, emulating the style of American Deco, it’s grand, with deep opulent colours set against gold, but still with contemporary modern fixtures such as the tubular hanging lights. And the decor rather mirrors the menu which is divided up into classic, contemporary and decadent, with martinis ranging from The Original, to the […]
