Hush St Paul’s

Since opening in 1999, Hush Mayfair has remained a perennially popular dining destination and the Cocktail Bar is a firm favourite too. And today, Jamie Barber, restaurateur behind Hush and Cabana, is launching a brand new Hush opposite St Paul’s Cathedral . Hush St Paul’s will be Barber’s second dedicated brasserie, following Hush Holborn in 2012, and will offer relaxed all-day dining in a chic setting. The design concept for the 120 cover restaurant has been overseen by Alex Michaelis of Michaelis Boyd, the same architects behind Hush Mayfair, Soho House group and Byron Burger. Three Friday Nights at Goodwood

Last week The Handbook got out of London. At 6pm we were in Wandsworth, at 7:30pm we were watching the sun set over the spectacular Sussex Downs and the horses thundering down the straight from a box at Goodwood estate. After we had placed our bets, sipped champagne and indulged in Eton mess and Pimms jelly (unfortunately our skills at betting leave a lot be desired, unlike our ability to eat pudding) we headed over to the Parade Ring to watch Rudimental dj. Rudimental at a race course?  Pardon? Yes that’s right, the Goodwood estate has just launched its Three […]

Custom Cocktails at Roast

Borough Market restaurant Roast is at the heart of the Floral Hall, where an unprepossessing lift leads up to a glass-walled interior just beneath the green-arched roof. With live jazz music at a grand piano, quirky moving pictures and a buzzing atmosphere, the Handbook headed down to Roast for a drink. The Roast bar specialises in cocktails and, with a thick menu dedicated to the drink, you’ll never be short for choice. What’s more, the list of possibilities increased further as our waiter offered to concoct unique new cocktails suited to our tastes. The concept is to eventually craft drinks […]

The tour, which will be taking in destinations from Edinburgh to Padstow, will give people from across the country the chance to try dishes from Morales’ upcoming book Ceviche Peruvian Kitchen. You can also book one of Martin’s hands-on masterclasses as an add-on where you’ll learn how to make Ceviche’s infamous ‘Don Ceviche’ sea bass. […]

Brilliant Buffet Brunch at Blue Elephant

Last Sunday, with the sun shining, The Handbook went down to Blue Elephant on The Boulevard at Imperial Wharf for a much needed brunch after going out the night before, but forget eggs florentine or waffles this is all about authentic, fresh Thai cuisine. The first thing to say is that the location is brilliant especially for those in the south west of London, a little off the beaten track and right next to the river, it is perfect if you want to escape the sun worshippers lining the cafes and pubs of Putney and Fulham, but still close enough […]
