St Andrews Fashion Show coming to London

St Andrews University is famed for its annual fashion show and not just because Kate Middleton walked down the runway in 2002, no, they are serious about their fashion. They run the Alfa Romeo Young Designer Award, a search for emerging design talent across the UK, which has featured in Vogue and everyone from Tatler to the Sunday Times have covered it and this is all whilst raising money for charity. In fact since 1992 they have raised over £300,000 for various charities. In the past 21 years the fashion show has been held all over St Andrews, and this […]

Fashionably Gluten-Free Tea

Two days to go before London Fashion Week and we all know that we can’t possibly be fashionable unless we’re cutting gluten from our diets – whether for medical or vanity reasons. So Michelin-starred chef William Drabble of the five star St James’ Hotel & Club has devised a gluten-free afternoon tea launching on Friday. We’re talking airy macaroons layered with fresh raspberries; delicate fancies embellished with seasonal berries; corset-friendly chocolate mousse cake; light lemon drizzle cake; and even scones dressed with clotted cream and a rich homemade strawberry preserve. there's also gluten-free bread in the wafer thin sandwiches. £19pp […]

Brilliant Burgers at Blue Boar

The Handbook team headed over to Blue Boar smokehouse to try out their great menu which is inspired by American pit masters but uses only the best British ingredients, think pulled pork, burgers, and steaks. The restaurant itself is dark, with low lighting and decorated with little nods to its American and British inspirations. We started with grilled Caesar salad and the sautéed mushrooms with crispy duck eggs. Both were delicious although the Caesar salad which rather than being tossed together as they usually are came as baby gem lettuce split in half, drizzled in the dressing and parmesan, one […]
