Why not popina to Popina? The new cafe and delicatessen from chef Isadora Popović will be arriving on Mayfair’s Duke Street next month and will be the first permanent home for what’s become a hugely popular weekly farmers market stalwart with stalls at over 20 locations from Broadway Markets to Portobello Road. With room for 20 (26 in summer, when outside seating becomes feasible) the intimate interior will play host to dinging between 8am and 6pm. Expect a breakfast of kedgeree, followed by a lunch of hearty sandwiches or even heartier stews and curries in both meat and veggie varieties. […]
Of all the infamous Londoner’s, there’s one that’s more notorious than the rest, one more feared and one that will always garner an interest. Jack the Ripper. The man who caused mass panic in the East End, stumped the detectives and further fuelled Britain’s love of a murder mystery. Alongside books which explore different theories and try and decipher just who Mr Nemo was, are the Jack the Ripper walks, and next Monday Spitalfields cocktail bar, Discount Suit Company will be teaming up with London Walks, the proprietors of the award-winning Jack the Ripper tours to launch a monthly tour […]

What: Alongside their meat, fish and vegetarian tasting menus, Michelin-starred restaurant, Texture, has introduced the new and improved vegan tasting menu *cue fireworks and dramatic music*. New? Fairly new but going nowhere, the new menu will be a permanent feature although the dishes will be subject to change throughout the seasons. Where? 34 Portman Street, Marylebone W1H 7BY www.texture-restaurant.co.uk On the menu: Icelandic chef, Aggi Sverrisson, errs on the side of health conscious when it comes to his cooking and sees no butter or cream used in his kitchen, with an effort to cut sugar out where possible. The style of […]
In case you’ve been living under a Rök, the Scandinavian sensation Rök has announced they’re opening in Soho. The restaurant opened on Curtain Road in 2015 and a year later opened a second on Islington’s Upper Street and now they’re preparing to enter the big league, with a new location in the heart of Soho. The opening, slated for mid 2018, will see the Scandi menu updated for the new opening, with a greater emphasis on plant based and vegetable centric dishes rather than relying on the smoked meats they’re famous for. Co-founders Charles Bakker, Frida Lindmark and Matt Young […]

The celebrity hangout has always been with us- after all, famous people need somewhere to stumble out of in the wee hours as much as the paparazzi waiting for them need a place to hang about outside of. But what happens when the celebrities decide to venture to the other side of the kitchen doors? The Handbook decided to list some of our favourite places owned by celebrities… David Beckham’s Pub Goals Why: From Idris Elba opening up a cocktail bar, to Usain Bolt’s Track and Records restaurant, it seems like big celebs have got a little too much […]
Evelyn’s Table; the new restaurant that is as intimate as it sounds. What used to be the beer cellar at The Blue Posts in China town has now been transformed into a cosy little dining area. The team has created a seasonally inspired and locally soured menu of around ten different plates each day. How does a Cuttlefish ragout sound, or polenta bramata with Mammole Artichoke? Evelyn’s table offers a cosy and […]
Stockholm is lending us its most innovative cocktail bar, Linje Tio. It was the first ever bar from Sweden to feature on the World’s 50 Best Bars. So, no wonder we’re excited about it. Finally, London has the chance to see and most importantly experience what all the fuss is about. It’s the attention to detail that really sets Linje Tio apart, back in Stockholm they carve their ice cubes straight off Icebergs. We only hope this little quirk doesn’t get lost in transportation, if you see a giant Iceberg coming straight for Wardour St you know what’s happening. The […]
They met whilst working together at London’s Barrafina restaurants and now chef Nives Barragan Mohacho and business partner José Etura are opening their own restaurant, bar and asador: Sabor. Prepare for a journey through the tapas bars of Andalucia, the asadors of Castile and the seafood restaurants of Galicia, as the menu captures the flavours (sabor is Spanish for flavour) of the pairs’ native Spain. On the restaurant menu you’ll find daily changing seafood, (depending on what they can get at the market) and the likes of wild rabbit empanadilla and diver caught scallops with five jotas ham consome. In […]
