Calling all witches and wizards, this October sees Leicester Square transform into a Harry Potter haven to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Leicester Square will make way for nine giant wands as they form a trail along one of the square’s multiple paths. Popping up from Wednesday 13th until Monday 25th October, the wands will light up every night to create an illuminated scene that looks like it’s been plucked straight from the film.

Each 15 feet in height, the wands have in fact been replicated to look exactly like the wands from your favourite Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts characters. The tops of the wands will light up, looking as if they are ready to cast a spell.

Arriving this week, each night the installation will light up between 6pm and 8:35pm every day.

These massive wands aren’t the only Harry Potter festivities happening over in Leicester Square. The wands will join the Scenes in the Square, an interactive film trail taking place in the heart of Leicester Square. Fans can see a statue of Harry Potter as he takes flight on his legendary Nimbus 2000 broom in his first Quidditch match.

Alongside the Harry Potter statue, there’s the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman, Mr Bean and Paddington bear all taking centre stage in the square. As part of the Scenes in the Square initiative, Alex Zane has created the ultimate soundtrack to accompany your filmic journey through the local area. Pop in your AirPods, press play onto the audio walking tour and uncover movie clips, trivia and interviews with the stars on this informative and fun free audio tour, available on Spotify.

Add a touch of magic to your October and head down to experience the spells in action as the wand installation and Scenes in the Square unfold before your eyes.

The wand installation runs Wednesday 13th – Monday 25th October
Scenes in the Square will take place until July 2023
