While the sun is still blazing, get your culture fix ‘fresco style as Battersea Power Station waves hello to a season of outdoor theatrical performances and film screenings.

Having been the backdrop of many Hollywood favourites, including Batman’s The Dark Knight to Alfred Hitchcock’s Sabotage, Battersea Power Station will once again be rolling out the red carpet as part of their new Summer Showtime on The Coaling Jetty, London’s quirkiest open-air cinematic and theatrical experience.

With a backdrop overlooking the River Thames and Battersea Power Station, Summer Showtime will be running until Sunday 20th September, offering film fanatics and theatre lovers the opportunity to enjoy intimate, live performances from The Turbine Theatre and special screenings of classics as well as family favourites, from the on-site boutique cinema, Archlight Cinema.

Book in now nab yourself a blue and yellow deckchair on the iconic Coaling Jetty. Film buffs can expect to quote-a-long to their favourite classics such as Dirty Dancing, Stand by Me and Ferris Buellers Day Off. Or buckle in for some more modern Hollywood favourites, including A Star is Born, La La Land and Joker.

Enjoy intimate screenings and live performances with the backdrop of the Thames and Battersea Power Station.

There’s a whole selection of family friendly films too, including Paddington 2, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the catchy Disney princess movie, Frozen.

If you’re missing your monthly theatre fix, head on over to enjoy outdoor performances from The Turbine Theatre, the Power Station’s resident theatre in Circus West Village. Expect everything from the humorous, child-friendly Horrible Histories show to Arlene Phillip’s HAIR, a reimagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth to the musical West End Rock.

You’ll be able to get all of your cinema nibble favourites from the on-site pop-up huts, from slushies, hot dogs and nachos from Birdies to popcorn and sweet treats from Archlight Cinema. Over at Vagabond Wines, get your alcoholic slushie fix with their take on the frozen rosé trend, or book in to get a summery picnic box from Megan’s.

With the future of cinema and theatre looking a little different, we’re welcoming Summer Showtime on the Coaling Jetty with open arms and can’t wait to immerse ourselves in some of the best movies and live theatre performances of the summer. We just hope the weather holds out…
