Straight from the tweeter’s mouth – Marc Jacobs onboard with the plus size revolution!
According to the tweet of MJ CEO Robert Duffy, the fashion label (which already makes clothes up to a size 16) is considering expanding its line – quite literally – to cater for a fuller figure. But none of the labeling of it as ‘plus size’, thank you very much – Duffy is suggesting ‘Above Average’ to soften the blow.
The business decision comes after Saks, the American department store found across the nation, stated its intent to stock designer fashions in larger sizes. Duffy related to the cause when he tweeted, ‘I’m a big guy 6’4, 210 lbs…I know how everyone feels.’
It’s only early days but it’s major step for a fashion-forward label like Marc, even if it will take ‘a year’ to really get the ball rolling. More important right now is the opening of Bookmarc (how cute?) on Bleecker St, NYC. First looks are showing the most adorable stationery and accessories known to man, so go grab them come September 15.
