This year, Knightsbridge's The Capital, which was London's first boutique hotel when it was opened 40 years ago by visionary David Levin, is celebrating the big 'four o' anniversary with a special menu or dishes from the past four decades plus a fabulous line up of 1970's drinks.
The list will include cocktails from the decade that became known as 'the era of global travel' with Sours, Harvey Wallbangers and Godfathers and a fine selection of 1971 vintages in the wine list as well – of which head barman Cesar da Silva is particularly proud including a Laubade Armagnac, and a Delamain Cognac as well as a Chateau Beychevelle.
The bar has also become known for its extensive whisky collection, which Cesar has spent a long time developing. Whisky connoisseurs will revel in 40 year old malts including Macallan and Balblair and gourmets will be in their element with the new Whisky and Cheese Pairing menu.
