There’s room for everyone … and a few more. But have you thought about taking up your spot yet?

Portuguese-born creative chef Nuno Mendes is hoping you might join him at his latest venture (in co-ordination with the Bootstap Company), The Long Table. But what is it other than just a very long, never-ending slab of wood?

Appearances are deceiving, however, because The Long table is a nocturnal food market set in a covered car park in Dalston, Hackney. It is East London’s first-ever night market .. and its aim? To encourage an atmosphere of pleasant conviviality.

It offers visitors a selection of London’s best street food, bars and music. Encouraged to choose their food from one or more of the stalls within the car park, diners then congregate around the table to enjoy their grub alongside other fellow eaters.

Who is taking part? Oh, only Hawksmoor, Moro, Yum Bun, Big Apple Hot Dogs, The Loft Project, London Fields Brewery, Lucky Chip, Rejina Sabur and many others …

Go on … give it a go. It’s open from 6pm to midnight, and will run every Friday until 16th December. Plenty of time to stop that stomach rumbling.
