3 night stand at Canteen

Covent Garden’s pop-up offshoot of Canteen  is hosting a very special season of guest celebrity chefs this month. Kicking off proceedings tonight is dynamic duo Angela Hartnett and Emma Duggan of Murano and Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room fame with Rare Roast Rib of Longhorn Beef, Dauphinoise potato, cavolo nero, thyme jus and horseradish cream.

But don’t worry if you’ve not managed to score yourself a reservation. You can either get on the phone and try your luck, like, ASAP or get in early for the next two instalments of seasonal shenanigans.

Tantalising our tastebuds on 8 December is Mark Sargeant, who, following 13 years in the Ramsay stable (winning a Michelin star at Claridge’s), struck out on his own this summer with his first restaurant, Rocksalt in Folkstone. He’s also played an integral role in developing the menus at Canteen so guests can grab a sneak preview of his new ‘feasting and grill’ menus launching next year.

Finally on 15 December, it’s the turn of 2005’s Young Chef of the Year, one-to-watch Neil Borthwick. Currently sous chef at Michelin-starred The Square in Mayfair, his star is in the ascendant and you’re unlikely to get another chance to enjoy his Lightly curried smoked haddock soup with Cornish crab muffin or Loin of Venison with chestnut spaetzle and pickled pear for £45 any time soon.
