Gingerbread maison at The Langham

22nd December 2011

Claridge's may have a designer Christmas tree tradition but The Langham London has one of a more culinary nature in the form of its annual gingerbread house created by executive pastry chef Cherish Finden and inspired by the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.

You can catch the 4.3ft high 'maison' in the hotel's Palm Court until the end of December – and why not indulge in a Festive Afternoon Tea while you're at it with Roast Norfolk turkey breast (just in case you happen to run out of leftovers) and violet mustard sandwiches, festive eggnog cream, mince pies and a mini gingerbread house to boot.

But if £42 per person seems a little steep, you've got until end of play today to win a complimentary Afternoon Tea for two. All you have to do is visit the Langham's Facebook page and the winner will be the person who can guess the weight of gingerbread (to the nearest kg) used in the construction of the house.
