Get on your dancing shoes for Disco Bistro EC4 opening today in St Pauls. This new dining residency from 'punk' chef, Carl Clarke, has just set up shop on the first floor of The Rising Sun pub and promises a daily changing menu of rare-breed meats, day-boat fish and wild ingredients. Clarke’s previous projects include NYC style 'Rock Lobsta' bar, Thomas Keller spoof ' The English Launderette' and Jubilee punk celebration ' God Save the Clam'. The pub itself – which sits on the spot where Guy Fawkes plotted against Parliament back in 1605 – is getting in on the action with 'trash food' from lobster corn rolls to French dipped burgers and fried chicken in pig-skin). Lighting artist and taxidermy lover, Alex Randall has styled up the interiors of the dining room with everything from squirrels to gramophones. There’s also a secondary dining space modelled on a Georgian pantry.
Disco Bistro will run for six months, opening for lunch and dinner, Monday to Fridays.
