South London’s trendy hotspot, Balham, has now reopened the doors to The Grove, just off Balham High Street. With a new, stylish interior in keeping with its Victorian heritage, the new gastro pub now showcases a new menu with a whole host of food, partly influenced by Eastern American cuisine.
Whether you want a drink or a bite to eat, The Grove now offers a range of new classics with a twist. If it’s a hearty meal you’re after, gather round the Gully table and enjoy a taste of the fresh and inventive menu including a “Balham Burger”. The burger which is served with all the usual trimmings including pickle, bacon and mustard has an unusual added extra… crunchy peanut butter! However, if different is not what you’re looking for, the pub provides all the usual pub specials including a slow roasted chicken with a sticky toffee pudding to finish off.
Alternatively, you can chill out by the Cox Bar and enjoy a variety of their crafted ales including a Meantime Lager. You can also enjoy a range of their spirits like a locally distilled gin and quirky rums and tequilas from around the world. If you’re looking for something to compliment your food, the pub can recommend from over 30 different wines with desert wines and an assortment of ports to finish off your food.
With an obvious passion for food and a beautifully decorated interior, this place sounds like just my cup-of-tea – I'm dying to try it out!
