Amongst the busy streets of London, a mere 5 minute walk away from the hype of the Leicester Square casinos, bustling shopping streets and theatres, lies a French delight in the form of Les Deux Salons. The staff are exceedingly friendly, and more importantly, authentically French.
While we waited for our meal, I enjoyed a Singapore sling from their cocktail menu whilst soaking in the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant. Les deux Salons offers anything from a Simple green salad to Rock oysters to Snail and bacon pie as a starter. The Handbook recommends the Spring vegetable risotto for a main as the vegetables are all in season and their freshness really came through the velvety sauce of the risotto. Other notable mentions off the menu include Grilled tiger prawns, lemon and chili, or the Steak frites with shallot sauce.
For pudding we were spoilt for choice but decided on the Paris Brest – choux pastry with praline cream which came covered in flake almonds. Other desserts which we will have to try next time include Classic vanilla crème brûlée, Soft meringue, sugared almonds & custard, and Profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce.
If you’re looking for an authentic French experience in the heart of London then Les Deux Salons is the place for you. So central to the city’s evenings activities, The Handbook suggests you fit in some of London’s finest entertainment afterwards like visiting The Casino At The Empire or The Card Shark Show.
