FIJI water does some great under-the-radar marketing and events and last week’s collaboration with Stolen Supper Club is as under-the-radar as it gets. Guests only found out the venue a couple of days prior to the event (a house in W11 is all that we can reveal) where they were greeted with a Bell & Brisket street vending van parked outside serving delicious Little Lord Rupert canapés – salt beef and pickled cabbage on black rye.
Stolen runs monthly dining experiences where each course is literally ‘stolen’ from London’s hottest restaurants. And true to form we ate Balthazar inspired onion soup with rye sourdough, Oblix’s Borough Market bowl of seared beef and crab cakes and then Tom Aikens’ ‘a nose too far’ coconut panna cotta with strawberry sorbet, poached strawberries and mint syrup.
Wine pairings came courtesy of Berry Bros and water, well, go figure. But as well as coming neat, it also cropped up in Dre Masso’s FIJI Martini (made with Angostura and a spritz of lemon oil) and even the Aikens’ strawberry sorbet and syrup. 3D and graphic artist CHU created bespoke printed plates, which, in the spirit of the evening, guests were actively encouraged to steal.
