The afternoon tea is quintessentially English, with the typical scones and cucumber sandwiches sure to temp any Brit worth their biscuit. What is not so English is the tropical heat wave we’ve been experiencing that shows no sign of stopping. Paramount, the iconic restaurant and bar atop Centre Point, is an oasis of 32 floors leaving the sticky streets of London below.
The cool folk up at Paramount have given the classic afternoon tea a cold make over with the addition of fabulously frozen fare such as a Frozen Coffee Cream, Strawberry Parfait and Mango Chiboust in a cone. There's liquid sustenance in the form of cool cocktail Paramount Colada – made from Atlantico Private Cask Rum, Fee Brothers orange bitters, coconut syrup, pineapple juice and served over pineapple-and-roasted coconut ice block.
For just £28 (or £42 with a frozen cocktail), hot-and-bothered Londoners can loosen their ties, unbutton their collars and enjoy tier after tier of sweet and savoury favourites. High Tea Times: 3pm-6pm daily.
