All of us who have read Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, have, as children, dreamt of going to the factory, to taste the chocolate, try the marshmallows that taste of violets, the caramels that change colour, and the chewing gum that never loses its taste.
And now The Montagu at Hyatt Regency London is giving us a chance to do just that, well sort of; think more quality chocolate and less sugar balloons. To celebrate the opening of the new West End musical adaptation, of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the pastry chefs at The Montagu, have created the most marvelous special pudding menu. Based on the characters from the famous story, the six puddings, sound like something Willy Wonka would have been proud of! Violet Beauregarde’s transformation into a human blueberry has been turned into a much more delectable; blueberry mousse in a violet chocolate cup, Mike Teavee’s love of television has been converted into a rich chocolate cake with a chocolate glaze and an edible piped tv and remote control. Bubblegum Macaroons, Veruca’s Nutty Parfait, Augustus’ Spicy Chocolate Soup and Willy Wonka Crazy Brownies also grace the menu, wonderfully nostalgic, the sort of stuff chocoholics’ dream of.
Each week, one lucky winner will pick the Golden Ticket and will enjoy two top priced seats to the new production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the West End. But that is not all, every diner who orders a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory pudding (and who can resist?) will be entered into The Montagu’s prize draw, which features a range of prices from a glass of complimentary champagne to an overnight stay at Hyatt Regency London, The Churchill.
As Roald Dahl, so famously wrote ‘A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men’ and these puddings are definitely testament to that!
