Dirty Martini Summer Nights

Tucked away in a corner of Hanover Square you will find one of London’s two Dirty Martini bars, and last week we made a trip down to Oxford Circus, to spend an evening trying out their new ‘Summer Nights’ Thurdsays!

We made ourselves comfortable on the chic leather seats, surrounded by cocktails, and the attractive murmur of chitter-chatter, soaking up a wonderfully relaxed yet up-beat ‘tonight-is-going-to-be-a-good-night’ atmosphere.

The evening consisted of, funnily enough, a vibrant summer themed menu of cocktails, and a BBQ platter the perfect size to share with a friend. It was filled with bite sized burgers and finger hot-dogs, which were fresh and sumptuous and despite their size did not compromise on taste, perfect for nibbling on in between cocktails. These however were totally out-done by the king-prawn skewers, which were our clear favourites!

But whilst we could have eaten several plates, we were there of course for the cocktails. The Berry Margharita was an interesting take on the classic, with a tangy berry twist and its vibrant pink appearance amplified the summer vibe especially when served next to the refreshing, and bright orange, Mandarin Cooler, a slightly bitter but cool and fresh counterpart, garnished with fresh fruit. For those with a more subtle taste the Gin Blush is a more understated yet still chilled and very drinkable choice.

But our favourite of the night was the Passion Fruit-Mango Crush, not only was it visually impressive and served with half a passionfruit, it was fragrant and almost overwhelmingly flavoursome; fruity and sweet without being sickly, and yet still refreshing, everything you want from your perfect summer cocktail. Totally recommend it, and we loved Dirty Martini bringing a little summer into our Thursday nights!
