Tom Aikens is operating a lottery for a one-day-only 10-course tasting menu for £10 to celebrate the restaurant’s 10th anniversary. Aikens has delved deep into his recipe archive to develop a one-off, 10-course tasting menu featuring some of his most memorable and favoured dishes from the last decade including: 2003’s Roast scallops with poached grapes and pernod, grape juice and acidulated fennel. “2003 was a very exciting time for me – I was very nervous about the opening as I had been out of the London restaurant scene for three or four years but we were fully booked from the third week! This scallop dish has been selected from one of our very first menus,” says Aikens.
From 2004 there’s Pigeon steamed with thyme, chestnut velouté and cannelloni: “It was an honour to be recognised by the Michelin guide a year after the opening especially for a restaurant in my own name. I love this dish because of its simplicity and the way it subtly highlights the pure flavour of pigeon,” he enthuses. The £10 menu is available for lunch only on 10th October 2013.
