Dieci is a lovely, intimate dining experience in the hotel of No. 10 Manchester Street that sits inconspicuously amongst the charming houses of the Baker Street area. Inside there are plush cushions and velvet lined seats to relax in either open booths or tables for two.
Executive Chef Cristian Gaimarri was the man in the kitchen serving up fine Italian food with starters like Piedmont Fassone beef tartar served with sautéed mushrooms and Umbrian black truffle!
We stuck straight into the mains and decided on the Tomato gnocchi with burrata and rocket. Burrata cheese is a personal favourite of mine and it certainly didn’t disappoint with its typical delicious creamy consistency. The gnocchi was also a success with its perfect fluffy texture and well seasoned tomato sauce. The Grilled cod served with mixed vegetables was moist and creamy with slightly over flavoured vegetables for my taste which I felt took away from their already naturally occurring flavours.
Unfortunately 1 of the 3 desserts not including the cheeseboard plus several ice cream options were unavailable, limiting our options somewhat. We selected the Chocolate fondant usually served with Madagascar vanilla ice-cream but it was temporarily off the menu so we chose the coconut ice cream instead. The fondant broke easily under the weight of my spoon allowing for the gooey chocolate goodness inside to spill out onto my plate and over the pretty display of berries in the middle. The coconut ice cream was a delicious, if not superior choice, to plain vanilla with little segments of real coconut inside. The yoghurt and chocolate ice creams were also delicious with little chunks of chocolate inside.
Dieci, formerly The Ten Lounge, is perfect for guests staying at the hotel but well worth visiting just to dine in the restaurant.
