Sardinian restaurateur Mauro Sanna launches new gelateria, Olivogelo in Chelsea’s Elizabeth Street this week and his homemade ice creams, yoghurts and sorbets will have a decidedly Sardinian influence. Created using traditional ingredients, delivered in weekly shipments from Cagliari, these will feature irresistible concoctions such as nougat, saffron, bitter honey and dates and grappa. Complementing these delicacies will be more familiar flavours of chocolate, coffee and pistachio ice cream; orange, lemon and mango sorbets and blueberry frozen yoghurt. Restaurant interiors have been designed by ceramist and designer Lubna Chowdhary who was commissioned to create a range of individually designed white ceramic tiles, the borders of which were then hand glazed to represent the delicious ice cream flavours on offer.
