We’re looking forward to Spring 2014 for two reasons: firstly, it might get warm enough that we don’t have to wrap up like we’re in the arctic each morning, and secondly, Simon Rogan is due to take the helm at Claridge’s new restaurant!
Simon Rogan, with his two Michelin stars at flagship restaurant L’Enclume, which was named as ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the 2013 Observer Food Monthly Awards and as ‘Best Restaurant in the UK’ by the Good Food Guide 2014, is an exciting new addition to Claridge’s and to London. Rogan plans to use fresh ingredients, which he sources from his farm in Cumbria for L’Enclume, and a modern British cooking style to create some exciting and inventive new dishes for the world-famous hotel.
Claridge’s General Manager Thomas Kochs comments: ‘We are very excited about bringing Simon Rogan to Claridge’s. He is a home-grown British talent and we believe his inspiring culinary concept for the hotel will lead the way for a new dining direction, building on the bold approach for which Claridge’s has always been known.’
Simon Rogan seems as excited as us. He says: ‘I have long been looking for a permanent London home and in Claridge’s I feel we have found a true partnership of creativity and world-class excellence. My team and I are looking forward to the challenge of marrying my culinary style with the phenomenal heritage of Claridge’s – this is a massive honour and we are focused and determined to create a truly outstanding restaurant.’
