The Bull in Wrotham, Kent is a hotel, restaurant and bar that has been around for over six hundred years. It has undergone extensive work to restore its former 14th century glory including exposing the oak beams, the inglenook fireplace and even the war time victory stamps on the ceiling of the restaurant. The hotel may look quaint but guests can still enjoy 21st century perks like free Wi-Fi and TVs in the rooms. The hallways are the last on the list of the hotel to need refurbishing before they meet the standards of the rooms.
The room we stayed in was one of eleven beautifully decorated rooms with Laura Ashley furnishings and plenty of room to swing a cat (or whatever else people do in hotel rooms). The en suite bathrooms here are amazing with space aged looking power showers and bath tubs large enough to accommodate two people. Each room has been decorated individually so that every room is unique so guests don’t even feel that are staying in a hotel, they all contain tea and coffee makers for those early mornings though.
The bar downstairs provides an upmarket pub for locals and guests to enjoy with a variety of beers, ciders and wines served. If you are looking for a drink with a little extra to it, make sure to ask a certain Italian bar tender to make you his special after dinner cocktail.
The breakfast menu consists of a traditional English fry up made freshly with local produce, toast with local jams or eggs any way you wish.
The Bull is a licensed wedding venue making it perfect for a country wedding, just over an hour from London, catering can be provided by the restaurant. Next door The Buttery is a former stables, refurbished to become a function room that can hold up to 120 people. Special menus, room hire, decoration and equipment can be organised through the hotel.
