The Mince Pie Project has been running since 2011, and aims to raise money to fight child poverty by auctioning off mince pies created by various different celebrity chefs.
This year, The Mince Pie Project will be working with 100 of the UK’s best chefs to raise money for two wonderful charities: Kids Company and FoodCycle. The chefs involved include Michel Roux Jr, Raymond Blanc, Angela Hartnett, Georgio Locatello and this year’s Great British Bake Off winner, Frances Quinn, among many others.
If you’re not too keen on traditional mince pies, then don’t worry: there will obviously be lots of the traditional variety available, but unique and creative recipes also feature, including Alyn William’s ‘Mince Pieghnuts’ which are mince pie doughnuts, and Duck & Waffle’s ‘Lemon Meringue Mince Pies’.
This year’s project will run until 2pm on Friday 13 December, and you can bid online if you fancy a particular recipe, or you can take part in the raffle. The Mince Pie Project has raised £40000 in total since its conception in 2011, which can really go a long way to helping children in poverty. Described as a ‘roaring success’ by Channel 4, it is a great project to support – especially at Christmas when it’s important to give something back.
