Watch out kids a new afternoon tea is coming to town next week – that’s right, The Ampersand are paving the way for all science and cake lovers with their new Science Afternoon Tea. Inspired by the Science Museum which is only moments away from the South Kensington boutique hotel, the tea is available from the 17th February until the 21st March so makes the perfect treat to end an afternoon at the museum, or if cake is more your thing than science – it’s just a little bit of indulgence.
Starting off with savoury gougeres including Gloucester Old Spot ham, coronation chicken and H.Forman & Son London smoked salmon, dill and cream cheese; the tea then continues with plain and white chocolate scones (which we think are some of the best around) with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Then for the science part! Hazelnut, walnut and chocolate cake comes with a mango mousse volcano, little chocolate dinosaurs stand on the edge of the cake stand whilst raspberry planet shaped cakes orbit around the pistachio macaroons which are spiked with a pipette filled with cherry sauce. Finally blue citrus cocktails bubble away in little science beakers! This is the sort of science we can all enjoy!
