A Little French Idyll in The Churchill

A Little French Idyll in The Churchill

You won’t need ‘A Year in Provence’, an afternoon will do in The Churchill Bar at London’s Hyatt Regency. The Winter Terrace has been transformed into a French idyll for summer opening 1st June. Taking inspiration from Provence, one of Winston Churchill’s favourite holiday destinations, the elegant space is the perfect spot to soak up some rays and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

The drinks list is a creative amalgamation of British cocktails mixed with a French flair. Examples include the Bloody-Marie Niçoise, a Bloody Mary with a dash of tequila, a splash of balsamic olive oil, garnished with anchovy, olive, quails egg and spring onion. If that doesn’t tickle your taste buds then there’s always a slightly more conventional cocktail, The Fig Old Fashioned. This classic bourbon drink has rosemary and fig infusions to complete its continental twist.

The same influence can be found in the menu, which consists of light summer dishes made from the finest regional produce. Crisp crudités with olive tapenade and rouille, fruits de mer and panisse – traditional Provençal chickpea bites, are among the signature dishes. Delicious regional cheese plates and charcuterie boards can also be nibbled on and washed down with a glass of red. To finish mini lemon and lavender crème brulées and succulent olive oil cakes for the sweet-toothed out there.

The Churchill Bar & Terrace is the ideal place to enjoy the sunnier climes and citrus and herb scents of Provence without leaving London. Don’t leave it Toulon to go there.
