A pub is often a man’s domain but this one certainly isn’t. Last night, Benefit Cosmetics launched a pop-up pub for women and we were lucky enough to go along for a sneak preview. The Prince of Wales in the heart of Covent Garden has been completely transformed for Gabbi’s Head’s five-week takeover for the duration of the World Cup. With less spilling of pints more sipping of cocktails, less bangers and mash more canapés and salads and less slot machine players more beauty artists this truly is the ultimate girly getaway.
Admittedly upon entering, you are hit by the sheer amount of pink, but once you get over this you’ll enjoy the ‘harmony of hormones’ and blissful lack of testosterone. Sky Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallacher officially opened the pub with the pouring of a ceremonial pint and was joined by jewellery designer Amber Atherton, actress Samantha Barks and singers Marina Diamandis and Diana Vickers to celebrate Benefit’s VIP launch. Guests enjoyed a selection of international cocktails as well as complementary make-uppers and brow waxes.
The pub welcomes all women to embrace the football frenzy and join the nation in watching the happenings in Brazil as they unfold. Not only will there be screenings of the games, for those slightly less enthusiastic about the sport there will be wine tastings, karaoke, brunch and stand-up comedy to name but a few exciting goings on over the next month. The pop-up also offers the perfect multi-tasking opportunity. ‘Bene-babe’ beauty artists will be on hand for eyebrow waxes, tanning, skincare sessions and makeovers so you can get beautified at the same time as watching the games.
So whether you’re about to become a football widow or if you just want to enjoy the sport free from lads’ comments, make sure you head down to Gabbi’s Head, a beautiful pub for a beautiful game.
