Vegan Afternoon Tea Review

If there is one thing London does well it’s an afternoon tea, seeing as England is the creator of the mid-afternoon pick me up, we certainly should be. But after over 150 years of enjoying them, creative types have started trying to re-invent them. We’ve seen Mad Hatter themes, Chelsea Flower themes, Halloween, Musical, Christmas, even an Asian afternoon tea! What we haven’t heard of is a vegan afternoon tea, until now that is.

The newly launched restaurant "RAW" at La Suite West offers a new health focused option when it comes to dining which has recently extended its menu to an afternoon tea. We recommend (weather providing) that you dine in the charming ground floor terrace, which is hidden under a canopy of trees.

The afternoon tea begins with a selection of sandwiches, the fillings ranging from Scrambled Tofu with Spicy Guacamole to Roasted Butternut Squash with Cream of Artichoke and Truffle. The bread is quite bland though which unfortunately lets the carefully created fillings down.

The next course is the Warm Home Made Scones served with Fresh Strawberries and whipped Coconut Cream. The ‘cream’ is coconut milk which has been whipped into an odd, gelatinous texture that is hard to contain on the scones, this being said, it goes well with the strawberries and was greatly enjoyed.

The final course is a delightful serving of Mini Chocolate & Coconut Raw Cake, Mini Passion Fruit Pudding and a Mini Cheesecake. Also available are a selection of white, black and herbal teas – our favourite was the Hibiscus, and coffees.

The Vegan Afternoon Tea is available now and costs £19 per person.
