A trip to Cornwall isn’t complete without a trip to Rick Stein’s empire aka Padstow, whether it’s his fish and chips, bakery, seafood school, restaurant, bistro, café, one of his 5 places to stay or four shops (see why we say empire?) but now Londoners can sample his cooking without making that long weary journey down south, because Rick Stein has just announced he is opening his first venue outside of Cornwall.
‘And where might this restaurant be opening?’ we hear you ask, well it's Winchester – only an hour from London on the train from Waterloo, hurrah! The concept of the 70 cover restaurant is simple, from its name, Rick Stein, to its menu which is fresh fish simply cooked. It’s also going to be a family affair with all three sons pitching in to help out. Eldest son Edward is looking after the renovation of the site which is on Winchester high street, middle son Jack is overseeing the menu development and youngest son Charles is supplying some of the wines.
The restaurant is set to open in October.
