Come November, The Churchill Bar’s terrace will be transformed into an alpine winter scene. Bedecked with twinkling lanterns, vintage wooden sleighs, skis and luxuriously soft fur-lined seats; it’s a veritable winter wonderland right in the heart of the capital, providing the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the streets outside, lined with Christmas shoppers (and you thought you were well ahead of the game).
While losing yourself in the snugness of it all, you can enjoy one (or a few, we’re not counting) of their exclusive chocolate-infused cocktails, curated by Green & Black’s. Their twist on a classic – egg nog – sounds particularly pleasing; a touch of fresh chilli and ginger mixed with a combination of milk, double cream and sugar along with Woodford Reserve Bourbon and topped with Green & Black’s White Chocolate house made foam. Or the Mayan Flip that uses Green & Black’s Maya Gold (the first British fair-trade product) based upon an ancient Mayan hot chocolate recipe. The Churchill’s version of this winter warmer sees the chocolate complimented with cinnamon, vanilla, honey, allspice and cayenne which is then heated and strengthened with Havana Maestro Rum and Harvey’s Bristol cream.
What with the plush wintery décor and the delicious cheese and chocolate fondues also on offer, you’d be forgiven for forgetting yourself entirely and thinking you’ve been transported to a cosy chalet in the French Alps.
